RGB Controller

Designing an Automotive RGB Controller

July 2026 • Terra Vertex Journal

Not just another LED controller

Automotive lighting projects often start simple: add strips, add power, add a controller. But real vehicle environments are not simple. Voltage changes, cable length, heat, fusing and user control all matter.

The Terra Vertex RGB Controller is being developed as a more serious platform for multi-zone vehicle lighting.

Why 16 zones

Independent zones allow a build to treat the dashboard, doors, footwells, rear panels, trunk and audio area as separate design elements.

That matters because good lighting is not only about brightness. It is about composition, balance and control.

Automotive logic

The controller concept includes behavior for undervoltage, engine-off timing, default state, output limits and future configuration.

This makes the project different from a simple decorative LED setup. It is being designed around how a car is actually used.

Prototype phase

The current priority is prototype validation. Once the board arrives, real testing will guide the next decisions: firmware, enclosure, installation strategy and product direction.
