The Story

A dialogue between nature and industry.

ORIGIN is the first object in the Organic Matter series. It combines a preserved tree cross-section with transparent blue resin and a restored industrial machine base.

The wooden core remains visually dominant, while the cast resin creates a clean outer contour and reveals the natural irregularity of the material. The base gives the object weight, structure and mechanical presence.

The transition between wood and resin creates the strongest visual identity of ORIGIN. The resin does not hide the irregular natural edge. It frames it.

The blue tone adds depth and contrast, especially where the light passes through the thickness of the cast material.

Story

A functional object shaped by natural material and industrial presence.

ORIGIN is not designed to look mass-produced. It is built around the character of a single piece of wood and the contrast between organic form and engineered support.

The project is part of GM Atelier's Organic Matter direction — a series focused on one-of-one objects where the material is not hidden, corrected or forced into perfect symmetry.

The tabletop keeps the natural identity of the wood while resin and metal elements create a stronger sculptural presence. The result is intended to function as furniture, but also to stand as an object with its own story.
